Rename 'sort by title' to 'sort by filename':
This is in accordance with the actual function of the code, which
uses filename rather than title as specified in file metadata.
Setting the hyph algo before loading the document may save crengine
from re-doing some expensive work at render time (the hyph algo
is accounted in the nodeStyleHash, and would cause a mismatch if it is
different at render time from how it was at load time - "English US" by
default - causing a full re-init of the nodes styles.)
We will only re-set it on pre-render (only then, after loading, we
know the document language) if it's really needed: when no algo saved
in book settings, no default algo, and book has some language defined.
docsettings can be stored either as a sidecar file (prefered, when
possible), or as a .lua file in the koreader/history/ folder (good,
when book is in a read-only directory where we can't create the
.sdr/ directory).
They are managed correctly if for some reason, the book directory
becomes writable: the docsettings in history/ is read, used, and
removed when a docsetting in a .sdr/ can be saved.
These docsettings in koreader/history/ contribute to the History
list build: they are put it in history.lua, and the duplicates
on followups history.lua builds are removed.
This fix a crash when a book is in a read-only directory.
Also fix History containing strange entries like "Book.epub.lua",
that came from the koreader/history/book.epub.lua.old backup,
that weren't removed as they are not a duplicate.
This plugin mostly sets up a "Text editor>" submenu, that allows
browsing files, creating a new file, and managing a history of
previously opened file for easier re-opening.
It restore previous scroll and cursor positions on re-opening.
Additional "Check lua" syntax button is added when editing
a .lua file, and prevent saving if errors.
The text editing is mainly provided by the enhanced InputDialog.
InputDialog: added a few more options, the main one being
'save_callback', which will add a Save and Close buttons
and manage saving/discarding/exiting.
If "fullscreen" and "add_nav_bar", will add a show/hide keyboard
button to it.
Moved the preset buttons setup code in their own InputDialog
methods for clarity of the main init code.
Buttons are now enabled/disabled depending on context for feedback
(eg: Save is disabled as long as text has not been modified).
Added util.checkLuaSyntax(lua_string), might be useful elsewhere.
Explicit new options: select_directory, select_file, show_files.
With select_directory, show an entry to select current directory
(so, removed undocumented hack "hold on .. to select current
directory").
Some problem somewhere with [[...]] strings starting with a
leading newline. Should probably be allowed, but for now
fix the few such cases to allow them being translated.
InputText: checks whether provided content can be given
back unaltered, which may not be the case after it is
splitted to UTF8 chars if the text is binary content.
Prevent editing text if that is the case.
Adds InputText and InputDialog :isEditable() and :isEdited()
methods.
Also accounts for the scrollbar width when measuring text
to prevent it from being displayed when not needed.
Also ensure a minimal size of the scrollbar thumb so it is

By setting SEARCH_LIBRARY_PATH when a Calibre tree is found, so that
book paths can properly be constructed.
Users should still very much set it themselves, but at least everything
works as intended when not, instead of mysteriously half-breaking later.
Drop the SetDefaults bits, it appeared to have been added to fix no-ops
detected by Luacheck, and it's actually non-functional, because
SetDefaults doesn't handle saving variables it did not itself assign.
So this was just causing the "Do you want to save new defaults" popup to
show up on exit, but it couldn't actually do anything useful (like, say,
save the new SEARCH_LIBRARY_PATH value).

The Dogear icon is 20x20 pixels and was never scaled where used. Now:

I'm going to assume my H2O is really, really weird, because that
commit's more than a year old o_O.
When hyphenating a word, the existing algorithms enforced a minimal
length of 2 for each word fragments on left or right side.
This adds a widget to allow changing these minimal sizes (from 1 to 10).
Removed width:80% as it was never supported by crengine (the effect
was achieved thanks to margins and paddings).
Wikipedia saved articles from now on won't be effected by a double
effect if we later add full support for width: into crengine.
Use a setting 'copt_overlap_lines' (default to 1) for the
number of text lines from previous page to show on next
page (instead of a hardcoded and unscaled 20).
Take footer height into account for overlap calculation
and dim area.
Show overlap only when changing pages (not when panning).
Also fix ReaderFooter:getHeight() which was returning
a higher height than the real one since footer refactoring.

Fix display of &, <, > in TOC entries and in targeted anchor (the mismatch

If the most recently used global cache item refers to the same
page, it would be overwritten. This will happen when closing a
paged (PDF/DjVu) document on the same page you opened it, as well
as when opening and closing EPUBs with crengine because it uses
its own cache.
Fixes#3846.
Transifex warns about some issues but this is not one of them.
The proper solution would be `padding_right`. But although it's supported on FrameContainer it's not passed on through TextBoxWidget.
If the device supports it, add a checkbox for enabling automatic
warmth, and a widget for setting the hour at which warmth should be
maximal ("bedtime").
The hour can be changed through +/- buttons; holding them will change
with 30min steps. As soon as automatic warmth is enabled, the 'warmth'
cannot be changed manually anymore, so we make its widget grey, but
the current value is still displayed correctly. Changing the hour
changes warmth accordingly.
Add support in nickel_conf to save/retrieve setting of
'autoColorEnabled', which is the automatic warmth feature in
Nickel. We do not support reading of 'BedTime', because it is encoded
as a QVariant. This setting is hence saved/loaded solely in/from
G_reader_settings.
This is the first step to support "automatic warmth", meaning that
warmth will be set according to the current time. The user can set a
"bedtime" at which warmth should be maximal. Warmth will increase
towards approaching bedtime and decrease afterwards.
Add new members 'auto_warmth' and 'max_warmth_hour' which tell if this
feature is enabled and the "bedtime", resp. Add a method
'calculateAutoWarmth' which will set the current warmth according to
the current time. The progression is linear but not symmetrical: we
start 5h before "bedtime", but turn back warmth to '0' 2h after it, to
make sure that warmth is '0' in the morning.
For automatically setting warmth in the background we use the
backgroundrunner plugin, because not only is it more comfortable to
use, but we also cannot require 'uimanager' during device
initialization.
This implements a reasonable facsimile of going back on Android.
The back button first goes back in a history of visited pages.
When there's no history left, it closes the app.

Emulate the hold touch behavior on non touch device by clicking the right key
ButtonTable: do not add vertical separator to the layout because the focus
manager can't traverse them. Add check to make disabled button non-clickable.
Navigating the TOC, viewing a full screen image, browsing
reading stats... would call paintTo() on ReaderUI (so, asking
the engine to render the page) or FileManager (so, rendering cover
images) even though their content is hidden.
Widgets registering to UIManager have to explicitely states
they cover the full screen (UIManager can't know, parts of their
dimen may be transparent, e.g. if it is a CenterContainer).
Also uses PathChooser (instead of InputDialog) in 'Set Wikipedia
Save as EPUB directory'. When setting not yet set, propose to
create and use ~/Wikipedia/ .
Reading an epub file with Mupdf would show 6 items in bottom
config panel. Reading it with crengine would show only 5.
A crash would happen if we were on the 6th when leaving MuPDF,
and later opening config panel with crengine.

For devices with natural light (KA1, H2O2), add new button 'Configure'
at the bottom which will open the naturallightwidget, which will be
placed at the top. The frontlightwidget will be moved to the bottom,
and both have permanent focus. This way, you can change the parameters
and immediately test them by changing the frontlight level and
warmth. On the KA1, both widgets will easily fit, but on smaller
devices it may be that they overlap.
Since the frontlightwidget will keep focus, we disable the 'Configure'
button when the naturallightwidget opens. We also remove its 'Close'
button and disable 'onTapCloseFL', so that the frontlightwidget cannot
be closed while the naturallightwidget is displayed.
This widget is used to configure the natural light on KA1/H2O2. It
allows the user to set the gain/offset values for white/red/green, as
well as the exponent used in the formula.
Numbers can be changed via screen keyboard or through the plus/minus
buttons next to the numbers (holding the buttons will in/decrase with
smaller steps). Changes are applied immediately, but will only be set
permanently if 'OK' is pressed. If 'Cancel' is pressed, the new values
are discarded and the old ones restored. Also, pressing 'OK' will save
these values in the koreader settings file (there's no support for
changing these values in Nickel, so there's nothing to sync to its
config file). The 'Restore Default' button will install the original
defaults that were derived from Nickel's behavior.
This widget is meant to be called from the frontlight widget and is
placed at the top, so that the frontlight widget can still be used to
test the current values (see next commit).
For warmth and/or brightness = 0, we need to make sure that the
red/green/white LEDs are actually turned off, regardless of the values
for gain/offset.
bump crengine:
Allow for quicker loading when interested in metadata only.
Allow for more than 65535 different attribute values.
Increase gamma values range.
Some Hold and move (hold on title and move away from it) would not work.
Pan (=swipe with hold at end) while selecting text would move the
window (it now does nothing: proper text selection still needs Hold
on word at start).
Also increase hold duration from 2s to 3s (for switching lookup
between dict/wikipedia) to be consistent with the 3s duration in
readerhighlight.
Bump crengine for cache re-use fix and warnings when
cache sizes reached.
Allow for increasing some crengine cache sizes with a new
setting: "cre_storage_size_factor" = 1.5 (or 2, or 4...)
Holding on a word for more than 3s should bring the highlight menu.
It crashed on readerpaging documents because self.hold_pos is no more
a Geom object with them.
Also inverted selected_word/selected_text logic, as with PDF, selected_word
stays set when selected_text is available.
If the device supports natural light (currently only KA1), extend the
frontlight widget to also allow for changing the 'warmth' value. We
more or less duplicate the widget for 'brightness', with the exception
that we drop the 'toggle' button, which does not make much sense for
the frontlight's warmth. Also, we add captions 'Brightness' and
'Warmth' for clarity.
New zoom configuration available among the others

With ["cre_compress_cached_data"] = false in settings.reader.lua.
Not using compression for cache files does indeed take more space,
but it does speed up opening, rendering, page turns, and closing,
with big documents.
Bump base and crengine.
ReaderLink: make all links be a table (they were a table for PDF,
but a string for CRE) for clearer code. Also have location_stack
store them as tables, with additional properties.
Get original position of link source (and verify it is valid)
so we can show a marker there.
Also:
Hold on "Go back to previous location" to clear location stack.
Resists "Swipe to go back" when previous locations stack has just
become empty, and show a notification.
Fix wrong links with Swipe to follow nearest link on PDF documents.
If the device has natural light support (currently only KA1), use the
sysfs interface instead of the ioctl-based one. It might also be
usable on other Kobo devices for setting brightness without natural
light, but since I cannot test this, this is currently restricted to
the KA1.
By default, the ioctl interface is used for accessing the
frontlight. However, the ioctl interface has two problems: the overall
brightness seems to be lower (issue #2321), and it does not support
the natural light support from the Kobo Aura One (issue #2285). This
interface is the first step to fix both these issues.
From observing Nickel's behavior, it appears the white/green/red
intensities are roughly linear dependent on the 4th root of brightness
and warmth values. This leads to a very quick increase of the
intensities for lower brightness/warmth values, which then saturate
for larger ones. The values for gain/offset were determined by a
simple linear regression, but the plan is to create a widget so that
users may adapt these values to their liking.
First item would be underlined if the device is both Touch and Keys
capable (emulator, android, pocketboot...), which is not really
pretty. Delay that till Keys for focusing are really used.
Fix various inconsitencies: some occurences not highlighted
on displayed page; different occurences highlighted on same
page wheter we went there searching backward or forward; pages
with occurences simply just skipped when searching in one
direction, and not in the other...
To avoid edge cases, crengine will now give back results on up
to 3 pages, that we need to filter.
Bump base and crengine
Also fix some bad filename and extension in epub's OEBPS/content.opf,
Store image files (jpg, png, gif) uncompressed in the .epub as they
don't need compression.
crengine may now give us multiple authors (if multiple <dc:creator>
in epub metadata) separated by \n.
Deal with that where needed.

added by ReaderMenu when closing document).

cre:loadDocument() may fail in recognizing the document format, and
koreader would previously keep calling other methods on it, which would
make crengine segfaults. We now check loadDocument success at the
various places it is called, and try to deal the best way we can when it fails.
* Properly create intermediate directories when receiving books from Calibre.
This fixes an issue where you can't receive books except into directories that
already exist on the Kobo, which, in particular, causes problems when your
configuration in Calibre is something like "put books in $Author/$Title.epub"
and you haven't previously synced any books by that author.
* Wake up periodically to process ZMQs if any are registered.
This fixes an issue where if there are any timed events (such as the suspend
timer) in the queue, ZMQ events may not get processed until the timed event
fires, which is a problem when (for example) the suspend timer goes off in
an hour and you have something trying to send a book to the kobo over wifi
*right now*.
With this change, the event loop will wake up every 50ms to check for ZMQ
events and process them if necessary. If there are no ZMQs registered (which
is typical), it uses the original behaviour -- so this won't affect battery
life under normal usage.
- Fix links to wikipedia pages containing '?oldid=123', that
wouldn't work when used back thru the API.
- Make external links to other wikipedias with a different langage
work (they didn't work when non-ascii page titles)

When looking for .ifo to populate Dictionary settings menu,
avoid walking sub-directories once we found a .ifo, as these
sub-directories may contain a lot of images and other subdirs.
This feature, introduced some days ago, was actually
doing 2 updateItems calls: the initial one, and a second
to switch to focused_file page (cheap with classic display mode,
less cheap with CoverBrowser modes).
This change allows doing that in a single call.
Also fix a few crash possibilities when unhighlighting.
Also fix bug with binary search that could not be able to remove bookmark
when there are multiple bookmarks/highlights on the same page.
To make it more alike bottom menu:
- left and right border not displayed
- line below icons extends to screen borders
- same bottom border size
And make separator lines have same padding on both sides
This is done by/for kosync plugin at each opening, because
the docsettings was re-opened and saved for this, but later
overwritten by the current koreader docsettings - so it was
redone each time. This correctly adds this partial_md5_checksum
to the current koreader docsettings, which will be saved on
document closing - so it will not be redone next time.
Note: this partial_md5_checksum is not (yet) used by anything.
When going from reader to filemanager, we are in the directory
containing the last_file. With this, we will also be on the page
showing this file.
When in filemanager and going up (".."), we will also be on the
page containing the directory we came from.
Rationalize horizontal construction of Menu items (TOC,
Bookmarks, Classic file views) for more even padding.

This makes Go to, Skim to and TOC page selection work in
scroll mode, and page given to other module more accurate
(previously, we were one action lagging).

(previously, first and last row may have different sizes than

Decide baseline vertical position according to font metrics, instead
of the hardcoded 0.7 (in textwidget, which made the text a little
bit up in its box), and 0.75 (in toggleswitch, which made the text a
little bit down in its box). This usually gives a value around 0.72
or 0.73 with our ui fonts, which looks about right.
ReaderFooter: add bottom padding, now that our text goes a few pixels lower
I believe this should be `if isKobo()`, or better yet that the entire
block should be moved to `KoboPowerD:init()` because afaik that is the
only platform where the system doesn't provide trustworthy frontlight
information. But to be absolutely sure that I don't break anything (and I
don't want to spend any time on this atm) I'm temporarily excluding only
Android where this behavior is known to be problematic.

"partial" refresh causes a full (without black flash) refresh on
Kindle (which uses REAGL mode for partial refresh). This causes a
full redraw of widgets, which is a bit distracting with some of them:
- dictquicklookup: when showing next definition
- infomessage: when displaying a new one (Wikipedia Save as epub)
Also fix bottom menu, that even when closed, would still register
bottom area as dirty: this would cause top menu navigation to
cause a full partial refresh, only noticable on Kindle.
* Fix crash with keyboard navigation of onHold buttontables
Would crash when encountering a separator or when the number
of buttons in a row changes.
* Reset previous selected item on new buttontable
This gives the page position to these modules even in scroll mode.
Also, in readerrolling: don't query battery/charging status
when crengine does not need it (used only when it shows its top

394be8a (#2855) and 2b3b310 (#3183) introduced side effects (scroll mode
crashing and TOC being reset and rebuild). This reverts parts of them
not yet reverted.
Avoid unnecessary work in ReaderView:onSetViewMode() and
ReaderRolling:updatePos() that would result in TOC being reset
and rebuilt (which can take time on books with huge TOC) during
reader setup.

would be rendered with the first font set, and would not
follow change of font (unline other texts without styles).
That was observable with Embedded Styles set to On, but is even
more noticiable with the new Embedded Fonts setting set to off.

was already there in crengine, and interfacing is similar to
what is done with Embedded Styles.

Sometimes, depending on an epub style, some text is hidden by the progress bar (the mini one at the bottom).
1. Android.getScreenBrightness() is used in frontend/device/android/powerd.lua to retrieve the frontlight intensity.
2. kosync.koplugin won't save settings for whisper sync.
3. batterstat.koplugin won't work correctly if several on* events are fired.
- Factored out duplicate code from filemanager.lua and filemanagerhistory.lua
to new filemanagerbookinfo.lua (and other common code to filemanagerutil.lua).
- Uses sidecar files' new doc_props and doc_pages settings, or fallback to
old 'stats' settings, or to opening document.
- Shows filename, filetype and directory.
- Shows description (Hold to see whole truncated text), keywords, and
cover image (tap to extract image from document and display it if available).
- Book information now available from reader menu, to display info about
the currently opened book.
- Convert possibly HTML description to plain text via added

as the tap gesture on the upper part (mostly) of the screen is
a conventional design to show menus in almost all ereaders as well as
some mobile phone apps. While users not farmilar with the Android world
have no experience with swipe down to show menus that's why we need a
quick start guide for this feature. And experienced Koreader users
probably will turn pages by mistake each time they want to popup the menus.
The solution here is adding back the tap gestures as they were and keep
the new swipe to show menu feature as a supplementary function when
link's tap area blocks menu's tap area.

This commit seeks to improve the paltry help menu item. It breaks the "try to have at least three items in a submenu" rule in anticipation of an upcoming quickstart guide and show quickstart guide setting. This guide will explain that (soon) you will have to swipe south at the top of the screen to activate the menu.

Kind of the point, I'm assigning it nil after all. This way it probably shouldn't complain.
Noticeable latency between toggling the power switch and the device
showing the screensaver has been tracked down to the two network
manager calls. This change allows the screen to be updated first.
Note that unloading the open source brcmfmac driver used on okreader
is slower than unloading the proprietary driver shipped by Kobo,
making this delay even more noticeable.
self.suspend() is scheduled after the network manager calls to avoid
race conditions.
Without this change, the device resumed randomly. With this change, the device had not resumed randomly anymore. (Technically speaking, it still randomly resumed, but got suspended immediately.)

ReaderHighlight has now been migrated to use touch zone
Inputcontainer's touch event handling logic changed to only stop
propagation when handler returns `true`. Previously, it stops
propagation when a handler is found. This is needed to support
both readerhighlight_tap and tap_forward touch zones.
Also for the current text-only wikipedia full page: replace
the ==s in section titles with some unicode symbols for a better
visual feeling of hierarchy. These same symbols are also used
in the .epub.
Both can be disabled by adding ["wikipedia_prettify"] = false
to settings.reader.lua
readerhighlight: close ButtonTable (like other buttons do) when looking
up wikipedia, otherwise if we save as epub, and swtich to new document,
this ButtonTable will never be closed and stays in UI.
Tested on Kindle PW3. The error message my device threw was different from what was coded in OPDSBrowser.lua in getCatalog(). Perhaps we should test other devices and see if there are other error messages thrown as well.
This patch makes the OPDS Browser treat the default catalogs (Project Gutenberg, Feedbooks, etc.) the same as a user-added catalog. This makes them removable and editable if the user so chooses.
Tap on external urls or invalid links would jump to
document's 1st page. We check first the validity of the
link, and deal with wikipedia links or just show the external
url.

Touch zone decouples screen size from gesture event registration.
The win here is each individual widget does not need to update
gesture range on screen rotate/resize anymore.
Another advantage is we now have a centralized ordered array to handle
all registered touch event listeners, makes it much easier to resolve
gesture range conflicts between multiple widgets.
This patch also includes the following changes:
* migrate readerpaging to use readerui's touch zone
* migrate readerfooter to use readerui's touch zone
* move inverse read direction setting to touch menu's setting tab
* moved kobolight widget from readerview into readerui
* various dead code cleanups and comments
